I believe in Angels

A nice white robe, a pretty flower wreath on the head, sparkling wings, happiness all over the face and joy in abundance were my perceptions of an Angel in Heaven and always knew it was just a myth. But not anymore. I believe in Angels, they are truly very beautiful. Now one of them is my Grandmother whom we fondly call Amma.

Amma departed peacefully to a mightier world leaving behind our Grandfather, 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Besides just memories, she left behind lot of ideologies, strong principles and her own life for us to remember, adapt and pass down to future generations. ‘She was God-fearing, loving and beautiful’. I see her now as an Angel, even more beautiful, just the way I had always perceived – in her ever smiling face:)

Painting Amma’s face was a joyous experience though it brought tears to my eyes now and then. Colors washed her face in right proportions better than I anticipated, wanted to bring all the Grace and Strength and Gentleness in her character into the painting, more than just a painting, Amma’s portrait brought lot of satisfaction to me.

What more than to inherit a strong legacy of inner strength and will power from you, Amma. Love you and promise to be your good girl.
